ISSUE #5 FACT SHEET

The Mental Health & Recovery Levy is ISSUE #5 on all Greene County ballots.

Important  NO NEW TAXES. This is a 1.5 mil levy and it WILL NOT INCREASE your taxes.

Greene County levy dollars are spent ONLY on Greene County residents.

This levy will allow us to continue to support families with mental health issues.

Any decrease in funding will result in a decrease in services for people with mental health problems.

Ffunding for Greene County mental health and recovery services has been cut by the State by over $1 million; failure of the Mental Health levy will result in close to 40% in cuts and further reduction of local services.

  • Mental health and alcohol/drug services were provided to at least 10,000 Greene County residents and their families last year
  • In the past eight years, the number of people who accessed mental health services increased by 120%
  • In the past eight years, the number of people who accessed alcohol/drug services increased by about 170%
  • In the past eight years, the number of children and youth who accessed mental health and alcohol/drug services has more than doubled

Every dollar lost curtails services to Greene County residents with mental illness.

This levy funds over 34% of the budget for mental health & recovery which includes:
•    Crisis response services                    •   Christopher House
•    Suicide prevention                                  •   Counseling for youth, adults, and families
•    Medication for youth & adults               •   School-based mental health in all districts
•    Integrated Youth Services                     •   TCN Behavioral Health Services
•    Drug and alcohol services for youth •   Women’s Recovery Center

  • Help for the homeless                  •   Assists law enforcement and courts
